Expectations
Look for these notices up top for the tl;dr version.
This workshop will work the same as all the others in terms of pacing, participation, set-up, and troubleshooting.
- We may not read everything on the page as we go along and instead just summarize the contents. But this walkthrough is full of detail for you to get into later if you desire!
- Stop us if you have a question or run into an error. You can ask questions on camera, or in the Zoom chat. Our workshop helpers will be monitoring chat.
- We’ll stop occasionally to ask questions or check in.
- When we’re working in our application we don’t want to drop you, so we’ll be asking for affirmation that you’ve completed the step. This will usually be in the form of asking for a thumbs up, verbal OK, or chat message. You’ll see the “Share” boxes with specific prompts.
- We’ll share our screen and be switching between the workshop materials, VS Code, and another browser tab to illustrate what you will need to do.
- When you’re looking at code blocks, the new lines will be highlighted.
- If you’re having an issue with typing out the code, code blocks can be copied and pasted. Each new section will include the whole contents of the file which can be copied and pasted over the content in your editor.
- For any technical issues, we’ll try to help quickly in the main Zoom room. If we can’t solve it, we’ll ask you to join a Breakout room with one of our workshop helpers to resolve the issue.
This is an example “share” notice. You’ll see “share” notices at the end of many pages. Please respond to those so we can see where everyone is at before we move on.
